On July 7, 2024, the sixth-semester students of the Bachelor of Interior Design (BID) program at Kantipur International College had the privilege of visiting Time Square Hotel. Organized by the college, this visit aimed to give students practical exposure to interior design within a hospitality setting.
At Time Square Hotel, the BID students delved into modern interior design concepts and saw their application in a high-end hospitality environment. The hotel’s seamless blend of contemporary aesthetics and functional design offered an excellent learning platform for the aspiring interior designers.
The students received a comprehensive tour of the hotel’s facilities, including guest rooms, lounges, dining areas, and conference spaces. The hotel’s design team and management provided detailed explanations of their design choices, the materials used, and the thought process behind the layout and decor.
A standout moment was the interactive session with the hotel’s interior design team. Students discussed the challenges and considerations of designing for the hospitality industry and learned about the latest trends in interior design, including how sustainability and technology are being integrated into modern hotel design.
“The visit to Time Square Hotel was a fantastic experience. It was inspiring to see how the concepts we learn in class are implemented in a real-world setting,” said a BID sixth-semester student.
Faculty members accompanying the students highlighted the importance of such visits in the educational journey of interior design students. “Practical exposure is crucial for our students. This visit allowed them to see the direct application of their studies and gain insights from industry professionals,” commented a faculty member from the Interior Design department.
Kantipur International College is committed to providing its students with diverse learning experiences that extend beyond the classroom. Visits like these are an integral part of the college’s approach to combining theoretical knowledge with practical application. The college plans to organize more visits to various design-centric establishments, ensuring students gain comprehensive industry exposure.
